1 YOGA

Have you heard a lot about the benefits of yoga, perhaps even had it recommended by your doctor, but not sure if it’s right for you? This class will introduce to you the basics of yoga in a welcoming and relaxing environment. The class is suitable for all ages and all experience levels. It is designed to increase flexibility, mobility, and strength while providing tools for managing stress and improving concentration. Those new to yoga or those needing a refresher will be gently guided through basic hatha yoga poses, adapted as needed for those who have limitations. There will be seated, prone, and standing poses, all done at a slow pace, to allow your body to relax and become more flexible, Props will be used as needed to protect your spine and joints, so bring a yoga mat, strap, blankets, and foam block if you have them.

BODYBALANCE

Les Mills Body Balance is a group fitness class that combines elements of yoga, tai chi, and Pilates. It is designed to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and overall well-being. In Body Balance class, an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves while embracing the elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Each class begins with a gentle warm-up and progresses through more challenging poses and sequences and ends with relaxation and meditation. All levels welcome! Leave class feeling like a new you. And looking forward to the next Body Balance Class!

BODYPUMP

BODYPUMP is a barbell workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music helping you achieve much more than on your own! You will leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more. BODYPUMP is available as either a 55, 45 or 30-minute workout. It is also available in our club as a virtual workout.

Circuit Step

Circuit Step class combines step aerobics (cardiovascular) with strength training exercises. Jenny takes you through a series of strength training exercises, often at different stations, using dumbbells or barbells, or bodyweight. In between circuits, and using the step and risers (optional), she will also lead you through different step aerobics tracks. Sometimes, each of these types of exercises are combined for one of the best workouts around. Loads of fun and super challenging!

DanceMania

DanceMania is an awesome dance class where participants have fun, get fit, and make friends. The class is brought to you by Tracy Chinen, whom we all know as Keoki. He's not only a wonderful dancer, but an amazing choreographer, too! Plus, the dances and moves you will learn in Keoki's class are not only fun, but they are also attainable, especially with a little repetition, and Keoki's great coaching. This makes DanceMania perfect for all ages, all levels of fitness and experience.....and anyone who is already a great dancer (as well as those who think they can't dance!) Join us for this fabulous class.....it's a great way to start your Saturday! And remember......just let those inhibitions go! Nobody will be judged! Just FUN, FITNESS FRIENDS!

HIT the WEIGHTS

Pilates

Pilates is a system of repetitive exercises performed on a mat or other equipment to promote strength, stability, and flexibility. Pilates exercises develop the body through muscular effort that stems from the core. The technique cultivates awareness of the body to support everyday movements that are efficient and graceful. Participants discover that there are many more benefits to Pilates. Among those is that it improves posture and balance; Pilates targets the powerhouse muscles, which include the glutes, hips, pelvic floor, and lower back. Also, Pilates class can increase energy, which can promote weight loss. Additionally, like yoga, Pilates encourages deep, conscious breathing. Plus! It's fun! Wondering if Pilates class at EF is right for you? It's for everyone; from those in recovery to pro athletes.... seniors are encouraged to attend....or post pregnanct for a new mom, or someone brand new to exercise. Pilates is GREAT! Join Us!!

Pilates Balance n Stretch

Pilates Balance and Core! Strengthen your body with an emphasis on core strength. All movements use your core, so strengthen it! Improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, balance and flexibility.

Pilates Barre

Pilates Barre classes take the basic foundations of Pilates and combine them with ballet-inspired moves, like plies and attitudes, as well as incorporating elements of dance, yoga and strength training. Just like Pilates, Barre enhances your posture through focusing on core strength, as well as optimal alignment of the joints and improved balance. Barre can be practiced alongside Pilates, yoga, dance and any other physical training you do. It’s designed to be a full body workout that prepares your body for all strength and cardio challenges. Like Pilates at EF, Barre can be attended by any and everyone, no matter your fitness level! Gina is an amazing instructor and will coach all participants based on their current ability/level. Pound Fit

Pound is a full body, cardio-focused workout that combines drumming with exercises, like squats, lunges, and core work! Using light weights, drumsticks called RIPSTIX to engage the body and enhance the workout experience! Lots of fun!

Power Step

Power Step is a cardio-based workout with a primary focus on lower body strength. Both Daija's and Karen's classes always have lots of leg work! Participants will be led through tracks (on, off and around the bench!!)...that include exercises such has squats, lunges, etc. But don't think that your upper body will feel left out! Each class also includes several tracks targeting your tris and bis.....your shoulders and back using light to medium weights. This is a fun and upbeat class that will get your heart rate up and keep you smiling, too! Everything taught in the class can be modified to fit YOUR current fitness level and goals. Daija says, and Karen agrees (so do we!!) that there is so much to build on in her (their) step class(es)! We hope to see you there!

S.A.I.L.

S.A.I.L. stands for Stay Active and Independent for Life. Created by Wa St Dept of Health, S.A.I.L. is a low impact aerobics, strength and balance fitness class for adults 65+. (But not limited to! All ages and fitness levels will be challenged in this class and will have fun!)

S.A.I.L. VIRTUAL Class

S.A.I.L. stands for Stay Active and Independent for Life. Created by Wa St Dept of Health, S.A.I.L. is a low impact aerobics, strength and balance fitness class for adults, gear for those 65 and over. This SAIL Class is virtual in our studio

SENIORS VIRTUAL CLASS

In house Virtual group fitness focusing on a low impact class geared for our amazing senior fitness members. Come join other fit seniors(even if you are not yet a senior) and get your workout done in a group setting. Classes will vary from intermediate to advance senior levels of cardio, strength, balance and flexibility. We're mixing it up to help you find your favorite Virtual instructors and classes! Class is in our lower studio, so at this time, we are limiting to 8 per class, so please sign up in advance to reserve your spot!

Strength Flex Balance

All ages class designed to build strength while incorporating yoga poses for flexibility and balance. This class emphasizes movement through various yoga poses to music. The use of light hand weights is optional for strength building. No yoga experience necessary. Bring a yoga mat and beach towel or blanket.

VIRTUAL HIT the ABS

A stronger core makes you better at all things you do, from everyday life to your favorite sports - it's the glue that holds everything together. All the moves in HIT the ABS have options, so it's challenging but achievable for your own level of fitness. During the 30-minute workout trained instructors guide you through correct technique as you work with resistance tubes and weight plates, as well as body weight exercises like crunches, and hovers. You will also get into some hip, butt and lower back exercises.

VIRTUAL HIT the MAT

During HIT the MAT an inspired soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. Breathing control is a part of all the exercises, and instructors will always provide options for those just getting started. Strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centered.

VIRTUAL SPRINT

LES MILLS SPRINT is a 30-minute High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workout, using an indoor bike to achieve fast results. Short, intense style of training where the thrill and motivation comes from pushing your physical and mental limits. Karen

Karen Brennan began her fitness career in 1992 teaching step aerobics in Alexandria, Egypt! Next stop Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and finally EVERGREEN FITNESS in 2000! Karen is our Group Fitness Manager and is certified by Les Mills to teach BODYSTEP, BODYPUMP, BODYFLOW, BODYVIVE, CXWORX, and RPM. She also holds a National Academy of Sports Medicine certification for personal training. A natural teacher, Karen instructs with a welcoming, generous spirit. Her classes are a blast people say, dynamic, encouraging, and full of smiles. Karen can make any type of workout fun (really!). Approachable and motivating, she has a passion for helping YOU reach your fitness goals!

Cindy

Cindy moved to Port Townsend recently from Kentucky. Her love of the outdoors was a big factor in relocating to the Pacific Northwest and after visiting Port Townsend she and her husband, Dan, knew it was the place they wanted to be. She has been an equestrian most of her life and continues to ride regularly, hikes with her husband and two dogs and enjoys all that the area has to offer. She finds yoga to be the key to keeping her active and healthy, and has been practicing yoga for some time, particularly Bikram yoga. After she retired, she knew she wanted to explore yoga beyond Bikram, and got her RYT-200 certification in Lexington Kentucky. She taught community classes to 50+ ages for many years, then went to zoom teaching during Covid, and is thrilled to be back in the live yoga setting. She is also Silver Sneakers certified and her greatest joy is helping people find renewed energy, flexibility and lifelong fitness.

Jennifer

Jennifer is delighted to have moved to the area recently and wants to bring her yoga classes to our community. She taught yoga for 12 years on the eastside of Seattle in gyms, studios and spas and has experience with all levels. She studied gymnastics and ballet as a young person, and gained her minor in dance at the University of Washington. After college, she found Hatha yoga and has studied with many great teachers since then, completing teacher trainings with Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea and Rod Stryker among others. She enjoys bringing her dance background to the yoga sequences to encourage breath and a state of "flow." She has lead retreats and workshops where she shares the wisdom of "Ayurveda" ( the science of life in India) to aid everyone in finding greater health and ease in their daily activities. Jennifer is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and has enjoyed giving relaxation and therapeutic massage since 2004. She is bilingual with Spanish and winters with her mother and spouse in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Carla

Evergreen Fitness welcomes Carla Powell to its world class team of BodyFlow instructors. Carla holds a Bachelor s Degree in Anthropology and Swedish from the University of Washington and a K-8 teaching certificate from Western Washington University. Teaching has been a passion of Carla s for many years. She taught middle school language arts in Saudi Arabia from 1998-2002 along with many electives such as journalism and photography. She also served as the head volleyball coach at Asir Academy for three years. An avid outdoorsman and fitness fanatic, Carla enjoys hiking and biking and of course, teaching BodyFlow, which is a mixture of Tai-Chi, Yoga, and Pilates.

Sara

Sara McIntyre first stepped foot in Evergreen Fitness in 2014 after much persuasion from a lifelong friend TJ. I agreed to come in with her one Sunday morning to see what it was all about. Before my 1 week trial was over I was hooked! Soon I became a 4-5 day a week group fitness junkie! In 2018 the opportunity to get certified as an instructor came up. So with the support of my fellow members and Evergreen Fitness staff, I decided to give it a shot. I am now a certified instructor and am loving every minute of it! Having fun while working out is a must for me. I love the energy and enthusiasm that our members have. They motivate me to Bring It to every class.

Kathy

Kathy s back! Many of you may remember Kathy working at the front desk and teaching senior fitness from the year 2000 until 2004. Her extended sabbatical, LOL, from the fitness industry had her working in the dental industry for many years. But her passIon for Fitness and education has never been quenched! In March 2020 Kathy inquired about a part-time position at Evergreen Fitness. then along came COVID-19. Kathy has finished her SAIL certification, as well as her CPR certification. Her interest include her Dachshunds, jogging, weightlifting, gardening and enjoying life. She is teaching Tuesday & Wednesday mornings at Evergreen Fitness!

Jolie

Jolie Steckly is an Evergreen Fitness success story. In 2007, Jolie joined the gym and jumped into the Shape Up contest. She didn t win, but she lost 20 pounds and kept on going from there. Soon after, the instructors who inspired her approached her about becoming an instructor, too. It was then that Jolie rediscovered her inner athlete.Since being bitten by the group-fitness bug, Jolie is certified by Les Mills to teach BODYSTEP, BODYPUMP, BODYFLOW, and CXWORX. She loves the opportunity to combine her love of a great work out with her passion for teaching. The gym is one of her favorite place, largely because of the wonderful people and sense of community it inspires. When Jolie isn t at the gym, she s plenty busy: with her fabulous family; teaching both adult and kids in the classroom; but most likely, she s writing (and she thanks her gym friends for all of their support to reach for her dreams).
